This module explores company culture and its impact on daily operations, team performance, and business and project success in the construction industry. Designed for construction professionals at every level, it shifts the view of culture from just a poster in the breakroom to an actionable set of behaviors and standards that shape how work gets done.
You’ll learn how culture influences communication, trust, accountability, safety, and decision-making on the jobsite. Through practical examples, you’ll explore how healthy cultures help teams solve problems collaboratively, reduce costly rework, improve retention, and create environments where people feel safe speaking up.
You’ll also examine the role every employee plays in shaping culture, regardless of title, and why strong technical skills alone are not enough to build high-performing teams. By understanding how culture impacts both people and business outcomes, you’ll learn how to intentionally create environments that support stronger collaboration, better performance, and long-term success.
By the end of this module, you’ll understand how culture can become a powerful tool for navigating industry change, aligning teams around a shared vision, and driving business success.

Lisa O’Brien is a firm believer in the unlimited creative potential in every human being. She has focused her career on executive, leadership, and organizational development fueled by that perspective. Lisa is a McKinsey alumni who has over 20 years of international experience in executive development and organizational change working across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Rebecca is passionate about improving the way we work. Rebecca is a Senior Industry Culture Manager at Procore, supporting cultural transformations in the construction industry. She has a broad range of experience in people consulting, both from large and boutique firms, where she focused on supporting clients with culture, change, talent, and leadership development. With a Master's degree in organizational psychology and as a certified ProSci change practitioner, she brings a deep understanding of human behavior, business research, and data-driven insights to better service the industry. Her research has been shared at conferences such as the Association for Psychological Science, Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and the Canadian Psychological Association. Additionally, she has co-authored research published in the International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Human Performance, and the Consulting Psychology Journal.
Yasmeen Tonnos
Yasmeen Tonnos is a firm believer that if you invest in people, you will get your desired business performance results. She has focused her career on culture transformation, leadership development and supporting organizations through change management. Yasmeen is an Ernst & Young alumni and a certified coach with over 13 years experience in driving human change. Yasmeen currently serves as a Principal Industry Culture Strategist for Procore Technologies supporting the conversation around culture change in the construction industry. A native of Canada, she currently resides in Austin, Texas and holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
