Course Description

This module explores the essential skills needed to champion a healthy company culture in the construction industry. Designed for professionals at every level, it introduces a three-part framework focused on Leading Self, Owning Relationships, and Team Performance.

First, you will learn the skills of Leading Self, where leadership begins with being the driver of your own behavior. You will focus on self-awareness, responsibility and ownership, and making courageous decisions under pressure.

Next, you will explore Owning Relationships to understand how to prioritize people and long-term partnerships. You will learn to communicate proactively, manage conflict collaboratively, and build deeper trust through genuine connection and care.

Finally, the module focuses on Team Performance to help you build a reliable, high-performing team. You will learn how to empower others, support people's development, shift from a “player” to a “coach” mindset, and explore strategies to support well-being by managing stress and burnout.

By the end of the module, you’ll have practical tools to navigate real-world jobsite challenges, reduce costly rework, strengthen accountability, and help create a culture built on trust, collaboration, and shared success.

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t manage a team or have direct reports. Are the skills in this module still relevant to me?faq-icon

Absolutely. This module focuses on the idea that leadership starts with Leading Self, meaning being the driver of your own behavior and taking responsibility for how you show up. We believe that a leader is simply someone who takes responsibility for their world, meaning it doesn't matter what your job title is. Therefore, the skills in this module are valuable for everyone, regardless of title, empowering you to contribute and positively influence the culture around you.

Why should I shift from being a “player” who fixes problems to a “coach” who guides others?faq-icon

Strong construction professionals are often promoted because they are excellent problem-solvers. However, great leaders don’t just solve problems themselves, they help others grow and succeed too. This module explores how shifting from a “player” mindset to a “coach” mindset helps develop stronger teams, builds future leaders, and increases your overall impact on the job site.
