Hazard Communication -- Procore Safety Qualified
Learn hazard communication protocols for construction. Ensure workplace safety with expert-led training on handling hazardous chemicals.
Course Description
This course is part of the Procore Safety Qualified Program (PSQ), a series of courses designed to provide education, strategies, and resources aimed at fostering a culture of safety in the construction industry.
Hazard Communication consistently appears on OSHA’s top 10 most cited violations list. Chemicals present significant health and safety risks, yet proper safety information and guidance are frequently missing on construction sites. If you work with or around hazardous chemicals, it’s important to be informed and aware.
Join your instructor, Jim Rogers, and learn about hazard communication on construction projects. Drawing on his experience in construction safety and management, Jim offers practical strategies to ensure effective communication regarding hazardous chemicals on jobsites. Whether you are working in the field or managing from the office, this course highlights the importance of understanding chemical hazards and implementing proper safety measures to protect yourself and your team.
The course is structured into modules, each focusing on different elements of hazard communication. You will learn about the most commonly cited OSHA violations related to hazardous chemicals, the critical steps for maintaining a chemical inventory, and the proper use of safety data sheets (SDS). You will also cover the requirements for chemical labeling, the classification of health and physical hazards, and the development of written hazard communication programs. The course emphasizes the importance of employee training and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to create a safer working environment.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the necessary skills to identify and mitigate chemical risks on jobsites. You will gain insight into maintaining an up-to-date chemical inventory, interpreting SDS, labeling chemical containers correctly, and developing comprehensive hazard communication plans. This course aims to equip you with the knowledge needed to enhance safety and reduce the risk of chemical-related injuries and fatalities on your sites.
